Bran Brown Bread

1 cup raisins
1 ½ teaspoons Baking Soda
1/3 cup butter
½ teaspoons Baking Powder
½ cup honey
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 cup less 2 Tablespoons Water
1 ¾ cups whole wheat flour
¼ cup dark molasses
1 cup bran flakes

Soak raisins in warm water 15 – 20 minutes and drain. In a large bowl, cream together butter, honey and egg. Sift together flour, soda, baking powder and salt, adding flour mixture to creamed mixture alternately with water and molasses. Add raisins and bran flakes ad combine thoroughly. Pour batter into well buttered loaf pan. (9x5x3 inch pan) Bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour or until tests done. Makes one loaf. Contains 2 teaspoons of bran per slice.
