Elaine’s Homemade Granola

This makes 2 gallon jars full. The recipe stores well in a sealed glass jar.

Start by melting 2 sticks of organic butter. (1/2 pound)

Add 12 ounces organic brown rice syrup agave nectar or honey.  (I use agave nectar).

Stir in 1# chopped dates and cook until gentle bubble.
Now add 3 pounds of old fashioned or steel cut oatmeal.

If you are strictly following proper food combining, this is all you add.

However I add about 1 pound of raw chopped nuts.  I like slivered almonds, but you can mix in whatever kinds you like.

Bake on 2 ungreased cookie sheets at 325 degrees for about 20 minutes or until the edges of the granola just start to brown.

Remove it from the oven.

If adding dried fruit, this is the time to add it.  1# raisins work well.

When cool, store in tightly closed containers in a cupboard, if it lasts that long.
